Agustina “Avi” Avila, BS
Graduate Student Intern
My journey into the field of healing began with a deep personal experience of feeling misunderstood and unseen—an experience I know many others share. These moments sparked a passion in me to help others feel seen, heard, and supported. At heart, I am a teacher who finds joy in sharing the lessons I've learned along the way, many of which have helped me grow into someone who strives to live authentically.
In my work with clients, I aim to support the discovery of their true, authentic selves by encouraging greater awareness and mindfulness. This often involves exploring the past, as I believe that healing begins at the root. Just as a garden must be cleared of weeds before new growth can thrive, we must understand and address what lies beneath the surface in order to foster meaningful change.
Although my therapeutic style is still evolving, it is grounded in a client-centered approach. I prioritize building strong, trusting relationships and tailoring my work to each individual’s unique needs. I often incorporate holistic and mindfulness-based practices to support the mind-body connection and overall well-being. My areas of interest include substance use and addiction, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, personality disorders, relationship dynamics (including polyamory), and life transitions.
About Me: I’m a graduate student at UCF in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program. I was born in Argentina but have lived in the U.S. for most of my life. I identify with both cultures and speak both Spanish and English fluently. I hold a 200-hour YTT certification and teach yoga both independently and as part of my therapeutic work. I deeply resonate with the yoga lifestyle—not only in my roles as a teacher and therapist but also in how I live my everyday life. This connection is one of the reasons I’ve chosen the therapeutic approaches I use in my practice.
I love expressing my creativity through music and art. I also enjoy dancing, going to the beach, cooking, spending time with my family (including my dog and three cats), learning new things, and watching movies.
It takes a lot of effort to take that first step toward seeking therapy, and I know the system can make it hard, not just to find support, but to find the right support for you. I hope to make that process feel a little less intimidating and a lot more human. I’m here to meet you where you’re at and help create a safe space where you feel seen, heard, and inspired to grow.
