Alexandria Turnbow
Founder of Mindful Perceptions
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
My background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master’s in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy, and a License in Mental Health Counseling (MH18476). I have certifications in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychedelic-assisted Therapy, and am also a Qualified Supervisor.
But more important than any credential I have earned is how my team and I approach this work - with humanity, authenticity, and love.
While I started this practice as a solo therapist back in late 2019, it has since flourished into a team of like-minded clinicians. I'm proud to work alongside Maya and Avi, two incredible clinicians who bring their own lived experiences, cultural perspectives, and areas of expertise into the healing process.
Together, we offer care that's grounded in professional knowledge, as well as real-life understanding, so you can feel fully seen, supported, and empowered.
The Fun Stuff
One
I’m a cat person at my core. I find them so fascinating and have learned much about attunement and boundaries from them.
Two
Music festivals are my happy place. Feeling the bass radiating through my cells is so grounding and activating for me.
Three
My inspiring role models include Reese Witherspoon and Brene Brown.
Four
If I could meet one person, dead or alive, I would choose Alan Watts. His insights and energy have been enlightening.

My Story
I didn’t arrive here by accident.
I grew up in a rural home in Tennessee, influenced by substance abuse, hoarding, codependence, and a lack of emotional attunement. Even as a kid, I had a deep knowing that there was more to the story; more to life than this. My experiences also included love, education, and glimmers of hope that reinforced that there were other paths to take!
Each day, I’m walking my own healing journey, learning how to strengthen and share my light. My personal journey has included deep connections with others, my own therapy, breathwork groups, meditation, sound healing, dancing, etc. It has also been influenced by toxic relationships, self-doubt, inflammation, and uncertainty.
That’s why this work matters to me so deeply: because I know what it’s like to rewrite your story and how challenging that path can be without the proper support.
I built this practice not just as a business, but as a space for authenticity, emotional expression, and reconnection; to yourself, to others, and the natural world.
